Welcome to our SPEED TIPS page. This page is to help you find the speed you are looking for with tips and set up help for your kart. Also check put our set up sheet pages to help keep track of your set ups.  If you need help, or don't understand parts of this, call us or stop by and we will get you on the fast track.




Chassis Checklist

  • Does axle roll freely
  • Is Right bearing cassette in the correct (STD) position
  • Left Rear Cassette – are bolts tightened but not over-tightened
  • Are all bearings lubed and spinning freely
  • Front Bumper – Loose (with no binding)
  • All weight bolts tightened & Double nutted
  • All seat bolts tight
  • Make sure brakes are bled and working properly (also check for nicks in lines)
  • All safety clips in place?
  • Heim ends (for tie rods & spindles)
    • Are they bent
    • Are the nuts tight on them
  • Check battery strength in My-Chron (replace if necessary)
  • Check My-Chron leads for nicks from dragging, etc.

  • Champs
    • Safety wire on steering wheel in place
    • Safety bars not bound up
    • Safety Bars taped properly
    • Rear Bumper – loose and free
    • Floorpan Bolts – Should be tight
    • Seat Belt
      • Are they frayed or damaged in any other way that would keep them from doing their job
      • Are they less than 2 years old
  • Nerf Bars – slightly loose, with no binding
  • Steering Shaft
    • Steering fork ears – should be at a slight bend towards the left, but should not be twisted
    • Is it bent
    • Does it turn freely
  • Throttle Cable – not frayed, moving freely inside outer casing, are you getting full throttle
  • Is chain properly aligned
  • Is chain worn out, showing kinks or excessive slack
  • Are any nuts and bolts missing (this includes lugnuts!)
  • Motor drained of oil AND TAGGED to remind you of that
  • Catch can drained of any oil.
  • Fuel line for Animals & 206 – make sure it is not brittle, clogged or nicked

  • Clutch
    • Is it clean
    • Is it coming in at the correct RPM
    • Is the correct driver on
    • Are the snap rings in the groove and in place
    • Do the levers move freely
    • Does it rock back and forth on the crank slightly
    • Is the air gap within tolerances (if not, get it re-done!)

 

  • NO METAL FLOOPANS (Champ or Flat kart)
    • Is the fiberglass floorpan cracked or otherwise damaged (if so, replace it)
  • Air filters/ jackets cleaned and sprayed
  • Stagger size and set (they DO change from week to week)
  • Caster Set
  • Toe Set
  • Camber Set
  • Kart scaled
  • Am I back to my baseline set-up?
  • Flat Karts
    •  Body bolts – full nut but not bolted tight (they should spin by hand)
    •  Body bolts – use minimum amount – don’t bolt it up like a tank
    •  Bodywork – do tires clear, does it twist and flex easily
    •  Bodywork – any straps used to support body…are they cracked or broken at the bolt holes
    • Floorpan Bolts – should have a full nut, but should spin by hand
